Built in 1854, the Pound Farmstead is a prime example of early pioneer architecture. The home was originally built as two log cabins with a center "dog run" breezeway and has been meticulously restored to its exact composition and appearance in the early 1900s.

Five oak-filled acres give insight into early Central Texas rural life with a barn, smokehouse, windmill, and outhouse. Under development are the herb, vegetable, and flower gardens that were central to the pioneer's life.  There is a very unique water cistern in the house.

Some of the original furnishings can be found amid authentically duplicated woods, wallpapers, and fixtures.

Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1965
In 1995 it was added to the
National Register of Historic Places
